김서영 교수는 서울대학교 정치외교학부 조교수로 재직 중이다. 연구 분야는 미국 정치, 정치학 방법론, 계산사회과학이며, 특히 행정 데이터와 설문조사 데이터에서의 측정 편향, 그리고 미국의 선거 및 선거 관리, 정치 후원금, 양극화 등의 주제를 연구한다. 연구 성과는 American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, Political Behavior 등의 저널에 게재되었다.

서울대학교 부임 전에는 서강대학교에서 2023-2024년 동안 근무했으며, 그 이전에는 미국 워싱턴 D.C.의 아메리칸 대학교(American University)에서 2020-2023년 동안 조교수로 재직했다. 서울대학교에서 경제학 및 사회학 학사 학위를 받았으며, 캘리포니아 공과대학교(California Institute of Technology)에서 사회과학 박사 학위를 받았다.


Seo-young Silvia Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University. Her research interests include American politics, political methodology, and computational social science, with a particular focus on political behavior, election administration, and money in politics. She also develops methods to identify and correct measurement biases in administrative data and surveys.

Prior to joining SNU, Kim was an assistant professor at Sogang University from 2023-2024, and before that, at American University in Washington, DC, from 2020-2023. She received her B.A. in economics and sociology from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in social sciences from the California Institute of Technology.
